The display in Yanai Toister’s “The Keepers of Light” (2010), consists of photographic prints in glossy color, printed in a 300×60 cm rectangular format and suspended vertically, side by side, on the walls of the Gallery. The colors of the prints were determined by a fixed, computer-applied mathematical formula that started from primary red and progressed through orange, yellow, green and cyan to primary blue.

In our current exhibition in Circle 1 we show three exceptional artists. Eli Gur Arie produces what appears to be at first glance sated objects, objects that celebrate a rich existence, imprisoned in an appearance that nullifies every kind of consciousness: too beautiful to ask questions, too spectacular to be troubling. On this basis begins the strange negotiation that Gur Arie’s works conduct with the world.
In our next opening we will show a series of works by the Israeli sculptor Eli Gur Arie, who creates fascinating techno-hybrid pieces that go beyond the boundaries of our comprehensible world.
In Our next exhibition we will show two video works by the Spanish artist Albert Merino – “Autoretrat Compulsiu” and “Hidden Mud”. Albert Merino uses the medium of video to deconstruct reality and reinterpret it, using imagery and contextualizing it. In this way, he realizes a work of dissection of the environment where some different temporary stratus converges at the same time, creating a dreamlike and fictive universe between reality and imaginary.

In our next show we will host the exhibition “Reclaim Fame” by Yochai Matos. In his work, Matos uses the staple images of modern culture; whether simple or iconic, these are images imbued with layers of replication and recycling. Matos’ work explores the materiality and the social relations around public space as a property. Practicing in two fields; on the streets and inside the established Art world – Matos searches the cross points between the two disciplines.
The Italian artist Francesca Fini will be showing in our next exhibition three video works. Francesca is an interdisciplinary artist mainly focusing on new media and interactive media, video and performance art. Her live projects, always addressing social and political issues, are mixed with lo-fi technology, homemade interaction design devices, live audio and video. Primarily interested in video and live art, she also creates artworks assembling performance art ‘relics’ or manipulating video stills.
On Tuesday-Wednesday, June 17-18, we will show the 2-day exhibition: “Picture Peace” which calls on Israeli and Palestinian artists to raise their voice in support of a just and sustainable peace. Picture Peace is an independent initiative organized by The Artists Larry Abramson and David Tartakover as a complementary artistic intervention to the Peacehub project. The exhibition will be accompanied by live streaming of the peace talks which will take place in Jerusalem on the exact dates of the exhibition.
Avinoam Sternheim (1983) presented in our next exhibition which opens on May 17th, builds his works from abandoned materials he finds in his surroundings, which are the sources for his artistic work. He is influenced by tribal cultures, primitive art and the sort of fantasies he finds in horror and science fiction movies.
Alona Harpaz’s video Salt # 3 which will be displayed at circle1 in the next exhibition, is a fascinating experience relating to Israeli folk dance. Israeli folk dance answers some of the parameters required to define a Folk dance such as being performed by people with little or no professional training, but other than this characteristic none of the attributes related to the term appear in any of them.
