In our next show we will host the exhibition “Reclaim Fame” by Yochai Matos. In his work, Matos uses the staple images of modern culture; whether simple or iconic, these are images imbued with layers of replication and recycling. Matos’ work explores the materiality and the social relations around public space as a property. Practicing in two fields; on the streets and inside the established Art world – Matos searches the cross points between the two disciplines.

Till Nowak’s video “The Centrifuge Brain Project” at Circle1 (17.05 – 23.06)
In the next exhibition we will show the brilliantly made mockumentary “The Centrifuge Brain Project” by digital artist, designer and filmmaker Till Nowak (1980). Dr. Nick Laslowicz, a mad scientist from the “Institute for Centrifugal Research (ICR)” (a fake institution needles to say) recounts his “achievements in the realms of brain manipulation, excessive G-Force and prenatal simulations”.

Avinoam Sternheim – “Black Flower” (17.5 – 23.6)
Avinoam Sternheim (1983) presented in our next exhibition which opens on May 17th, builds his works from abandoned materials he finds in his surroundings, which are the sources for his artistic work. He is influenced by tribal cultures, primitive art and the sort of fantasies he finds in horror and science fiction movies.
Peleg Dishon – “White to Play and Win” (17.5 – 23.6)
In our next opening on May 17 we will host the exhibition “White to Play and Win” by Peleg Dishon (1979) – an Israeli new-media artist. “White to play and win” is a particular task presented to a solver of a chess problem. It means that the solver should play the white pieces and his goal is to checkmate the black. However, this is not a battle of two opponents; the game is played by one solver that plays both sides.

Miloš Tomić – Musical Diaries (4.4 – 10.5)
Musical Diaries is an exhilarating work by Miloš Tomić (Serbia, 1976) a multimedia artist whose works span film, photography, collages and sculpture. It started off as intuitive daily musical therapy, improvising on various instruments and paying attention to sounds made by daily objects at home, on the street and slowly, everywhere he traveled.
Alona Harpaz – “As if Royal” (4.4 – 10.5)
In our next Exhibition, opens on the 4th of April, Circle1 is displaying Alona Harpaz, an Israeli artist who works and lives in Berlin since 2001 and is represented by the Sommer Gallery in Tel Aviv. Harpaz is also the founder of the Infinite Earth foundation.

In our main space of Circle1 we are displaying two exhibitions by two distinguishable artists – Khen Shish and Nevet Yitzhak. Both artists are dealing with the problematic of Orientalism in Israeli culture and the complex local identity, and refer to it through personal and theoretical prisms.
Telémachos Alexiou’s dream of Norma (20.2 – 29.3)
Motion and stillness, depth and surface, black and white, physicality and abstraction – Telémachos Alexiou’s video The Dream of Norma transposes these cinematographic parameters in a duality that both distills and delights. On three screens, a dancing duel unfolds between Norma (Vaginal Davis) and a masked phantom (Telémachos Alexiou), a ceremony of seduction, an erotic courtship…
Khen Shish – “Handmade Bombs” (20.2 – 29.3)
“In order to create disorder in the painting you have to disrupt, interrupt, or maim. tear, perforate. As with a simple walk on the pavement in daily life, it’s the same with painting. There’s room for injuries. The dilemma is whether to ‘dress’ it or let it ‘form a scab’” (Khen Shish).
Gil Shachar & Roy Mordechay “Hals – und Beinbruch” (11.1 – 15.2)
In their joint exhibition Roy Mordechay and Gil Shachar present works from recent years.
