In our current exhibition in Circle 1 we show three exceptional artists. Eli Gur Arie produces what appears to be at first glance sated objects, objects that celebrate a rich existence, imprisoned in an appearance that nullifies every kind of consciousness: too beautiful to ask questions, too spectacular to be troubling. On this basis begins the strange negotiation that Gur Arie’s works conduct with the world.

Karen Russo’s video work “Externsteine”, takes as its subject the rock formation in Germany which attracts neo-Pagans, new-Agers and neo-Nazis to seasonal celebrations, in which each cult relates Externsteine’s extraordinary landscape to their own version of ecological, spiritual and political mythology.
Doug Fishbone – “The Parallax View” (19.9 – 18.10)
Doug Fishbone’s exhibition at Circle1 brings together two major recent works by the London-based conceptual artist, that extend his examination of consumer culture, mass media and the relativity of perception. These two works, Elmina (2010) and Hypno Project (2009), question the way information is processed and presented in the contemporary visual landscape, and both undermine the relationship between audience and content in different ways.
Karen Russo – “We are Golden” (19.9 – 18.10)
Karen Russo is an Israeli-born artist living and working in London. In her exhibition at Circle1 gallery in Berlin (opening on September 19) she will show her video work “Externsteine” and a new series of charcoal drawings.

In our current show we host three distinguishable artists: Francesca Fini, Michal Helfman & Olaf Kühnemann. one thing is clear – our space never looked so different. and we have launched our new video space in the basement – so there is certainly a lot to see.
Parallel Port: UdK Berlin at Circle1 (20.6 – 22.6)
In our next show (which opens on Friday, June 27) we will host the exhibition “Heartworn Highways” by Olaf Kühnemann. In Heartworn Highways Kühnemann works impulsively. Everything derives from imagination, there is no clear narrative. Just like reconstructing a new language, this is an exercise for creativity emerging from the dead end situation of every day studio practice and the challenge for constant productivity and inspiration.
